Who Is Danger Radio?

Today begins the reign of Danger Radio as this week's EdgeMusic Artist of the Week. They will be featured starting now until Saturday night. Now we have to answer the big question: Who Is Danger Radio?

Our story begins with the formation, which occured sometime in 2003. The band's origins trace to Edmonds, Washington, a small city within the Seattle metropolitan area. Andrew de Torres (lead vocals) was a middle school student when he met Nico Hartikainen (drums). Soon after, they formed a band called "Chasing Tomorrow". They added Marvin Kunkel and started playing shows and school gigs. The band later added Matt Goodwin and Spencer Mertle on guitars. Right before recording began on their first EP, Chasing Tomorrow changed its name to Danger Radio.

The band released their debut EP in 2004 titled "The Difference Between Love and Envy". One year later, the band began to experience frequent lineup changes. Matt and Spencer both left the band. They chose to replace them with Andrew Brookins (guitar) and Elan Wright (guitar). Right after, Jackson Phillips joined the band to play keyboards, and Danger Radio became a six-member band. However, Jackson left the band after one year, and he was replaced by Spencer Phillips (keyboards) in 2007.

They signed sometine that year to Photo Finish Records, and they released their second EP, "Punch Your Lights Out". In 2008, longtime member of 5 years, Marvin Kunkel parted ways with the band. His replacement was Robbie Cochrane (bass). Danger Radio released their first LP album in July 2008 titled "Used & Abused".

This past year, they supported Forever The Sickest Kids on their UK tour. Last month, they took part in the Bamboozle Festival in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The day before, they participated in the Hoodwink Festival, held by the Bamboozle organizers as a warm-up festival for bands covering catalogs from popular artists. Danger Radio performed songs from Britney Spears, including "Oops... I Did It Again", "Piece Of Me", and "Womanizer".

Last July, they were nominated in a special 2 part "Vans Warped" contest. Not only did their poll fail to generate a winner, but they also dropped out of the Vans Warped Tour to go on a tour with Cute Is What We Aim For, Ace Enders, and Powerspace. In April, they were nominated in a special 7 part "Bamboozle Festival" contest. The contest set out to generate seven winners during the week of the Bamboozle Festival. Danger Radio was nominated in the fifth poll along with New Found Glory, The White Tie Affair, The Bigger Lights, and Runner Runner, who eventually won that matchup.

Danger Radio tied for first place with The Real You yesterday with 19 votes each. While The Real You took back the lead with a total of 20 votes, Danger Radio claimed first place in the last few hours and won the contest with 3 votes ahead of The Real You. We congratulate Danger Radio for pulling out the win, and we welcome them into the EdgeMusic family.

EdgeMusic Artist Of The Year Preliminary Round #4

So right now, we are running a special contest called the EdgeMusic Artist of the Year Faceoff. This contest decides who was the best EdgeMusic winner of the entire year. Our first annual Faceoff took place in 2008. We had 12 preliminary rounds, 3 semi-final rounds, and one final round. Above All Else was declared the champion this past January.

The official contest for 2009 began back in April. We ran four preliminary rounds in the middle of April, choosing four semi-finalists. We usually begin our preliminaries right at the end of each month while the winners were still fresh off of their reign. The January preliminaries were the first to be held, followed by the February preliminaries, then the March preliminaries, and then the April preliminaries being the latest.

However, the winner of the April preliminaries was Hinder, whose reign actually began on March 29th and ended on April 5th. We usually sort the preliminaries by the beginning of each winner's reign, so Hinder was disqualified. But Kelly Clarkson (March 8 - 15, 2009) was allowed to remain a semi-finalist when Hinder's votes were compared to the results of the March preliminaries. Kelly will participate in the semi-finals at the end of the year along with Locksley (January 4 - 11, 2009) and Seymoure (February 8 - 15, 2009). But the April preliminaries only received 2 votes, with Hinder winning unanimously. The 3 winners from April lost to a winner whose reign began in March.

So today, the April preliminaries will be redone. This round will last the whole day, and it will include all the winners from April except the winners from the Bamboozle contest, as that week had 7 winners, but they will have a big surprise ahead of them. For now, here are our candidates:

*The Airborne Toxic Event (April 5 - 12, 2009)

*The Chuck Shafer Picture Show (April 12 - 17, 2009)

*Junior Doctor (April 17 - 26, 2009)

The poll closes at 11 PM EST tonight. To vote, go to our MySpace profile, or you can vote on here:

Demi Lovato's "Here We Go Again" Coming July 21st

Demi Lovato (April 26 - May 3, 2009) has just announced the release information on her second album. As stated through her Twitter page, the album is titled "Here We Go Again", and it will be released July 21st. The title track will be her first single, and the video has recently been shot this past week, but so far, there's no date for the release of the single or the video. The second album will stick to the pop rock genre with influences from John Mayer and Jon McLaughlin. Now all we need to do is hear the music. Of course, we certainly will when we catch her and opening act David Archuleta (January 18 - 25, 2009) at the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana on July 1st. Demi's album will go against the new album from Jordin Sparks, Sugar Ray's comeback album, and Lil' Wayne's rap-rock album, "Rebirth". We hope Demi's album becomes a hit, and we're concerned that Lil' Wayne will most likely have the #1 top spot unless it runs into the same bad luck it's already had this year. That's all we can hope for.

Diana DeGarmo Can Now Work Without Interruption

Today, we bring you an update on Tanya Marie Quattrocchi, the infamous stalker that has been harassing Diana DeGarmo (May 25 - June 1, 2008) for almost 4 years now. Well, the latest news is that she has plead guilty to four counts of stalking the EdgeMusic alum. The charges also include stalking her mother and a flatmate. Also, the word "flatmate" is the Australian term for "roommate".

Diana, who experienced stardom through season 3 of American Idol, finishing second to Fantasia Barrino. About to turn 22 next month, she has recently starred in "Back to Bacharach & David" and released an independent country EP titled "Unplugged in Nashville" on iTunes.

The 23 year old Australian woman first got charged with identity theft when she stole DeGarmo's credit card information. She then went further into a series of phone calls, text messages, and e-mails. Since then, she has hacked Diana's personal websites and emails, and she phoned ant texted her 939 times in a six month period. Whoa!

Apparently, that's just the beginning. Quattrocchi sent sexually explicit emails to DeGarmo's sister-in-law and work colleague, and in January last year, she sent an email to Diana DeGarmo. It gets even worse. She has hacked into Diana's MySpace profile 700 TIMES between May 2008 and January 2009. We can only wonder if Tanya was the one that convinced us to remove one of Diana's fans from our Vice-President election last November.

Defendant Shaun Pascoe told the judge that she was planning to write a book, and the judge went against it. If released, the book would have given her a FIFTH count of stalking. Pascoe also argued against an immediate jail sentence because of her age. However, Prosecutor Susan Borg ruled in favor of a jail sentence sayting that if she does not go to jail, she will continue stalking Diana.

Yesterday, it has been announced that Tanya has been sentenced to 26 months in Australian prison. That means she won't break free until July 2011, although she will eligible for parole 12 months from now. Australia better not have any computers in their prisons, because Diana cannot afford any more distractions for her career.

Jonas Brothers Are Now Video Game Characters

The Jonas Brothers (August 31 - September 7, 2008) may be having an OK start on their Disney Channel sitcom "JONAS", but they are already on a merchandising mission. It has been announced that the show, which premiered May 2nd, will be made into a video game for Nintendo DS. Craig Relyea of Disney Interactive said that the game will give fans "additional access to the Jonas Brothers as they portray the Lucas Brothers — their music, their fashion and their lives". Disney Interactive has previously made deals with Nintendo DS for many of its shows like Hannah Montana, Kim Possible, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and High School Musical. You know, if they can publish video games for Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii, business will be seriously booming.

Varsity Fanclub Splits From Capitol Records

Today, we report why Varsity Fanclub (January 25 - February 1, 2009) had to delay their self-titled debut album for the third time. Most of the fans were hoping to see the album get released on May 26th, which was listed on Amazon.com. When the album did not hit stores, fans were confused. We went into further investigation and found out that the band has left their record label, Capitol Records, just recently. That's what they get for delaying yet another Varsity Fanclub album.

Now they are looking for a new label that will support them better, and they are recording more songs for the album. In the meantime, the boys are still going on a summer tour. We hope they can actually find a record label that will put their album out. Maybe Warner Bros. or Hollywood Records will do. We can't see them go down the way NLT did. Even though NLT was terrible to begin with, it was sad to know that they released three albums during a course of two years, and Universal didn't even put out the record. So the band broke up last month, and Kevin McHale went into the FOX television show "Glee".

Varsity Fanclub cannot repeat that failure. We know they could do better. So, we ask that the fans keep supporting them, so someone will release the album.

Single File Featured On AOL PopEater

Single File (April 26 - May 3, 2009) has been featured on yet another website. This time, their on AOL Music's PopEater blog as an "About To Pop" artist. The Denver rock trio has released their debut album "Common Struggles" last month, and they have played at the Bamboozle Festival earlier this month. They are getting ready to perform on the Vans Warped Tour in August. AOL Music asked eight questions to drummer Chris Depew.

What is EdgeMusic?

What is EdgeMusic? Well, if you go on MySpace, you know that you may have seen us there. Here's how it happened. I started Reality TV Guide in January 2007, and it was a blog mainly for recapping reality TV shows. The blog never got a lot of attention, so we tried to promote it with a MySpace profile in July of 2007. That's probably why our URL is http://www.myspace.com/realitytvguide. All we got out of that experience were sexual predators sending us friend requests, and that was it except for bands sending us friend requests. So we chose to take advantage of helping bands out. The profile was renovated to become EdgeMusic on November 4th, 2007. After that, we had a independent following, and Reality TV Guide went out of business in November 2008.

Every week, we put up a new poll, and five artists are nominated according to a certain theme. At the end of the week, the votes are tallied up, and when the new week begins, the winner is featured on EdgeMusic as our Artist of the Week. Then we do a clean slate all over again.

Currently, our theme this week is "Seattle's Best", which looks at artists or bands from the state of Washington. The nominees this week are This Providence, The Real You, The Classic Crime, Fleet Foxes, and Danger Radio. The poll remains open until Saturday. Then on Sunday, we announce the new winner. You can go to our MySpace profile, you can vote on http://www.wishafriend.com/poll/96804/, or you can vote in the poll below.

EdgeMusic on Blogger

Well, we have tried hard for our own website, but it was too risky. Now, we have returned to where the story begins. EdgeMusic, which spun off from the now defunct Reality TV Guide, is now on Blogger. This is probably the best decision we could go for right now. We will update more as we progress.
